A man was taken to hospital last night following a fight in Stonehaven.
The High Street was sealed off after officers arrived at the scene.
Police confirmed that a 28 year old man has been arrested in relation to an assault in the High Street area of Stonehaven at around 7 PM on Wednesday, 16 May.
A 21 year old man was also taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Members of the public have been urged to stay away from the area of the High Street between Dunnottar Avenue and the harbour.
Detective Inspector Stewart Drummond said; “This has been a contained incident and I would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation and patience while enquiries were progressed in the area last night.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information about this incident or who was in the area at the time is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 using reference number 3601 of 16/5.”
