A bypass worker has been banned from driving and fined after drink-driving wrong way down a one-way street.
Sean Lennox, 20, was caught going the wrong way on Cameron Street in Stonehaven at around 3.15am on May 20.
Lennox was fined £600 and disqualified from driving for 12 months at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday by Sheriff Graham Buchanan.
Fiscal depute Carrie Stevens said: “Police stopped the accused’s vehicle as it was going the wrong way up a one-way street.”
Defence agent Michael Burnett said his client, whose address was given in court papers as Silksworth, Sunderland, was in the area working on the bypass.
He said: “His intention was to stay at a hotel that night. It was pointed out to him that his car was parked in an area where he could receive a ticket. He shouldn’t have got in the car in the first place, but he believed he was following instructions he’d been given.”
