A local attraction has helped place Aberdeen in the New York Times “52 Best Places to Go in 2019” list.
Aberdeen placed 24th on the list compiled by the New York Times, and was featured alongside destinations such as Puerto Rico, Panama and Tunis. But it was a local Kincardineshire attraction that helped place Aberdeen solidly in the list.
The London to Aberdeen Caledonian Sleeper was highlighted as a relaxing way to travel to the Granite City. Once there the author suggested a number of attractions that one might visit including historic castles set in fields of purple heather, the Queen’s estate at Balmoral, a visit to the former royal train station in Ballater and a ride on the Royal Deeside Railway.
Indeed it was The Royal Deeside Railway which was the featured photo for Aberdeen, you can view the whole list here.
