Stonehaven Folk Festival has been awarded the Guinness World Record for worlds largest ceilidh band.
In May organisers the Folk Festival started the hunt for over 250 musicians who would be willing to play as part of the ceilidh before an attempt at the record was made at Mackie Academy on the 6th of July 2018.
In total 288 musicians took part, each was required play one of the instruments which would be officially recognised for the attempt; these included the Guitar, Fiddle, Viola, Accordion, Keyboard and Ukulele.
Since the attempt in summer, organisers have been hard at word completing the required paperwork and passing information to the Guinness World Record team. After a period of evaluation, the attempt at Mackie Academy was recognised as a World Record.
